Next week we will cover a range of topics that will include how we diagnose a mental illness.

In this we will delve into the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition (known as the DSM-5) which many mental health practitioners use to reach a diagnosis. We will explore how the DSM-5 works and the issues with using it as a diagnostic tool.

We will go on to look at how culture can impact on how we diagnose mental health issues, and we will explore some case studies that will illustrate this in more depth.
