At the University of Reading

At the University of Reading we offer a range of courses that will help you to improve your English language skills before you start studying at an English-speaking university:

  • The Pre-sessional Programme is designed to help you improve your English language level before you start university study. If you have an IELTS score of 4.0 or higher, this course will help you to reach the required English language level for acceptance on an English language medium degree.

  • The International Foundation Programme (IFP) is for international students without British A level qualifications or the equivalent. The course provides the academic training, language and study skills you’ll need to start an undergraduate degree at an English-speaking university.

The University of Reading also offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research opportunities.

If you are interested in taking further qualifications in English language, you may be interested in the University of Reading’s widely respected Test of English for Educational Purposes (TEEP). Alternatively, you may also like to consider taking IELTS tests at our campuses in the UK and Malaysia.

Want to study in the UK?

Our International Foundation Programme (IFP) at Reading provides you with a pathway to many of our undergraduate degree courses as well as other British universities.

Whether you wish to study business, law, science, social science, construction or humanities the University of Reading has a wide choice of degrees you can progress on to.

  • September and January start options

  • IFP Online in January and September

  • IFLP in July for supporting students with English scores from IELTS 4.5
