The importance of building trust

the importance of building trust between carers and children
0.5
Building warm and trusting relationships between children and carers, is at the heart of early childhood learning and development. When children form positive relationships with their carers, they feel safe, secure, and cared for. Relationships between children and their carers, built on warmth and trust, enable children to feel more relaxed about their learning. Children who feel safe and secure, and generally cared for, will be more willing to take risks, and will not be afraid of making mistakes. It is the close bond that enables children to explore and learn, feeling safe in the knowledge that they can rely on the adult support and guidance, when needed.

The emotional connection between carers and children has a life-long impact.

In this video we look at the importance of building warm and trusting relationships with the children in our care, and how these positive relationships are central to a child’s learning and development.

  • What do you think? Why is it important for a child to feel happy and safe in order to learn?
