Hello, and welcome to this course, how do I become a lawyer by the University of Law. My name is Dr. Mark Devlin and I’m the head of access and participation at the university. I’ll be delivering this course along with my colleagues from across the University’s different campuses. It’s great that you’re interested in finding out a bit more about what it means to be a lawyer, and about the steps that you need to take if you’re considering a career path in law. Over the next three weeks, you’ll hear from law students, law professionals, and members of the University of Law team.

And this first week of the course, we will look at the different routes into law and also the different roles that you can have within the legal sector. So let’s get started.
