We need to make sure that we are keeping our clients happy. If we have happy clients, then they’re going to continue paying us. If they’re not happy, they’re not going to continue paying us and they’re going to go elsewhere.

There are three main things you can do to ensure your clients are happy.

1 – Get Them Results

Provided you’ve done your research, and honed your skills, this is perhaps the easiest way to make your client happy. You’re actually helping them solve the problem they came to you with in the first place. How can they not be happy?

When it comes to providing results, try and over deliver in the early stages.

You will have already built up some trust with the client, which is why they hired you and how you landed the project. But, if you can over deliver in the early stages, then that’s a great thing. This will help gain more trust from your client and also gives them some reassurance that you can actually deliver on what you say you can.

One of the best ways to do this is by targeting some easy, long tail keywords that you can rank for quickly. This typically isn’t going to be their main keywords that is going to generate them loads of traffic and leads. However, that’s not really the idea here. The idea here is that you’ve done a lot of talking, but now want to show them that you’re not just all talk and can actually deliver on what they hired you for.

If you think about it from the client’s perspective, they’re paying you for a number of months up front and putting all their trust in you before they see any results. For them, it’s quite risky. To help settle any nerves they have, you can rank for some long tail keywords and show them some results early on into the campaign. This really helps to build a better relationship with you and the client and it also ensures they’re happy.

2 – Provide Amazing Customer Service

The next thing you should be doing to keep the client happy is providing amazing customer service, and you can do this through communicating with your clients. Keep your client informed. Let them know what you’re doing throughout the entire process, and if you’re seeing any results.

You should also keep track of and advise your client exactly how their money is being spent. Even in the worst case scenario, and you’re not generating any results for your client, just be honest.

If you’re being honest and straight up with that client and letting them know exactly everything you’re doing to try and fix it, they’re going to be much happier than if you try and hide everything, keeping them in the dark.

Sometimes SEO doesn’t go as planned. It can be unpredictable at times, But keeping the client up to date via communication is a solid way to keep the client happy.

Another thing you can do to provide amazing customer service is to reply to their emails as fast as you can. No one likes to send an email then having to wait days to get a response. Replying in a fast manner can go a long way.

Most SEO businesses aren’t great when it comes to communication. If you can nail this, you’re already one step ahead.

3 – Go the Extra Mile

The third thing to do to keep your clients happy is to go the extra mile. I like to go a tiny bit out of my scope and provide feedback on the website and just general improvements they can make to it. This shows the client you care about the business and want them to succeed.

Some things you can mention to go the extra mile is going to be the website design. Ask things like, “What is your opinion of the design in comparison to the competitors?”, or “Is it nice?, Does it stand out?”, or “Is it unique?”. You could also also ask how the website looks on a mobile device. This is more important now than ever as a wider number of users these days are using mobile devices to access websites.

You could also mention their CTAs (Call to actions), ask questions such as “Is the phone number visible on the client’s website?” and “Is it easily accessible?”. These are the types of things you can mention to really go the extra mile. It’s also good to note also that these things are going to make it easier for you to deliver results to the client.

If you get your client to the top of Google, but they generate zero phone calls when there, they aren’t going to be too happy. Therefore, it’s in your best interest to ensure the client’s website is built and structured correctly for conversions.

When a website is built for conversions, it’s more likely going to generate more business for the client. This means they’re going to be happy and are going to continue paying you for longer.

Understanding this is going to take you a long way in maintaining and growing your client base.
