In this section, you will learn about the importance of protecting your phone.

If you think about it, we tend to keep a lot of sensitive information on our phones. This includes, but is not limited to, email, web searching with browser history, cloud storage with photos or contacts, calendars with dates, times, and locations. Because of this, our mobile devices are at risk of being hacked and are just as vulnerable as our computers as it uses an operating system and application software.

Mobile phones would be at risk for viruses, malware, persistent threats; things that can take over your camera, listen in on your conversations, steal your data; a remote access Trojan, which means someone could take control of your phone, cloning your phone, etc.

Now that more and more people are using their phones to do their day-to-day operations, it becomes a much higher target and a much more valuable target. So, not only do we have to worry about our phones physically being stolen, but also we need to worry about what is stored on our phones.

So, how do we handle this?

Well first of all, as always, don’t panic. In the next couple of steps, we will go over what you could do to help mitigate damage.
