The following learning outcomes will be addressed in this section.

Calculate pressures, temperatures and volumes of gases and gas mixtures, and how these will respond to changing conditions

We will look at the ideal gas law, (pV=nRT), which allows us to calculate volume, temperature and pressure of any gas.

We will cover the fundamental reasons these properties are related. Namely, that pressure derives from the frequency that molecules collide at. This frequency is based on the speed that molecules are travelling at, which is determined by temperature, and also what size of space they’re compressed into.
