What makes evidence credible?

When does evidence become credible? Watch Wendy Palmer explore how evidence becomes something others can trust and use.

We have been exploring how to describe learning in ways that make capability visible and usable. Now we take the next step, making usable evidence credible.

Usable evidence helps someone understand what a student has done. Credible evidence goes further, it allows others to trust that understanding and use it in decisions.

In this video, you’ll explore three simple checks that help move from usable evidence to credible evidence.

Three checks for credibility

  1. Can I interpret this clearly?
Does the description make the capability easy to understand?
  2. Can I trust this as a reliable example?
Does it show consistent, observable behaviour?
  3. Could this be used to support a decision?
Would this help someone make a judgement about what the student can do?

As you watch the video, think about times you have been asked to provide evidence of what you can do in situations like job interviews.
