There are many other things we can do to nurture our well-being. Here are a few science-backed ideas to get you started.

Exercise: Move your body regularly. Exercise has been shown to help reduce depression and improve cognitive function!

Nutrition: Research has shown that diets rich in healthy foods, including lots of plants, can promote mental health.

Sleep: Sleep is critical for wellness. Lack of sleep is linked to mood disorders, increased stress, and negative impacts on physical health.

Gratitude: You have just learned all about the benefits of gratitude! Regular practice of gratitude creates a tendency for positivity in the brain.

Mindfulness: As you have learned, mindfulness helps you manage stress, increase focus and attention, and regulate emotions.

Social connection: Social connection is the number one predictor of happiness and longevity. Make connection with others a priority!

It is important both to know when to ask for help and to find ways to help others.

Research has found that we are happier when we are helping others. Scientists who study volunteering found that those who volunteered lived longer and had better mental health, specifically:
