Introduction

Welcome to “Power Dressing in the Zoom Era”.

Together, we will look at historical and cultural developments that have shaped the concept of Power Dressing in the workplace as well as practical ideas for looking and feeling your best while working over Zoom and other video conferencing platforms. This course is designed to give you a theoretical overview of how fashion, business, and technology evolved pre-coronavirus pandemic and provide you with tips and solutions for making the most of your on-camera time in a post-COVID digital co-working space.

During Week One of the course, we will familiarize ourselves with the principles of non-verbal communication and the tools of power dressing. In Week Two, we will focus on specifics of styling in front of the screen/lens and the basic rules of shot construction for the camera.

The course follows a mosaic approach to acquiring knowledge whereby different ideas, examples and data are shared in a way that allows you to connect the dots based on your experiences and needs. By the end of the course, you should understand how power dressing came to matter in the contemporary workplace and be able to master this professional and interpersonal skill yourself.
