Environmental Factors are those related to the effect the technology has on the environment.

Food technology can have both positive and negative effects on the environment. For example, it can lead to reduced use of resources (such as land, water and soil), however it may need more energy for production.

The food business needs to carry out a cost-benefit analysis in order assess the current and future impacts on the environment, particialrly as ennvironmental welfare is of increasing concern among consumers.
