In Week 1 we discussed social innovation which is a new, useful solution to social problems. We also covered social entrepreneurship which helps social innovation can be designed and implemented to make social changes. In Week 2 we discussed how to measure and manage impact, which is the result of social innovation. We also talked about Theory of Change, which can be used to analyze the process of making impact. In Week 3 we discussed CSR, CSV, and Collective Impact. These concepts would be very helpful when you collaborate with the private sector, mobilizing its resources and expertise to address social problems together. In Week 4 we discussed impact investing.

Even when you have a wonderful idea or nice solution to resolve social problems, you can do little without sufficient resources. Therefore it is vital to mobilize financial resources, and thus, understanding impact investors’ perspective and motivation would be very useful.

This week we discussed social business model canvas, which is useful to organize your ideas and solutions not just for yourself but for other stakeholders around you. For example, if you want to explain your social business model internally to your colleagues or employees or persuade outside members like big firms, governments, or investors to work together, you should be able to communicate with them in an efficient and effective manner.
