Identify a situation to use sport

Activity: Consider an opportunity where sport might make a valuable contribution to development
Having considered the history of sport and development and the need to have a balanced view of sport, think about a situation where sport can make a valuable contribution.

This could be in response to a current challenge such as the COVID-19 pandemic, or a situation where sport could provide additional support to a community.

Using the workbook linked below, begin to write your thoughts and reflect on how the situation can be best addressed using sport and how exactly you will do this.

Activity

Spend around 5-10 minutes writing down your thoughts about the local context and need that your proposed activity hopes to address. Include answers to the following key questions:

• What is the current situation?

• What change would you like to see?

• Why is this important?

• Who is the target audience you wish to support?

• Who will help you to implement your activity?

This is only for your own reflection and others will not see what you write. The answers can be notes, bullet points or full sentences – whatever works best for you. This activity is just to start you thinking about the impact you are hoping to make.
