Activity 3 overview

Data exploration and reflection.
Data scientists must adhere to ethical principles in their work, and in Activity 3 you start by considering data privacy, security and data-driven decisions – including legislation for these issues.

Next, the two research activities are your main focus in this lesson. Each should take you about 30 minutes to investigate real-life data scenarios and reflect on concepts discussed in Week 1. You share your outputs from this work with other students and we hope this will expose you to different perspectives and global experiences. Engaging in the discussion and sharing outputs with peers will help you gain a comprehensive understanding of data science.

Week 1 ends with your first graded assessment of the course: a graded quiz with five multiple-choice questions that you need to pass for your course certificate.
