The Dao De Jing moves away from reason and away from rationality

Taoists think with their whole body. They think with their intuitions while the westerners are just supposed to think with their logical mind.

Here is a second kind of problem It has to do with logic The Greek word logos meant word but also meant logic The westerners have never gotten away from that entirely The trouble with the DDJ is that it moves away from reason away from rationality you can’t figure it out by using your minds whereas westerners, philosophers and thinkers for a long time has tried to make things rational because logos was rational So the way the westerners have cut off the word of knowledge doesn’t leave an easy place for the DDJ Philosophy is supposed to be rational religion is supposed to be doctrinal to have a bunch of rules of things you should believe So the DDJ is very hard to categorize in western terms the best you can do is to say it’s part of a “wisdom tradition” that exists in the west but it’s not an ongoing and privilege category Yes the DDJ is a kind of text that westerners will point to and say you know Asian people can’t think and this is proof that they cannot think What they really mean is Asian people,Chinese in particular do not think the way westerners do They think with their whole body they think with their intuitions while the westerners are just supposed to think with their logical mind So the DDJ escaped them

The Dao De Jing moves away from reason and away from rationality. You can’t figure it out by using your minds, whereas Westerners, philosophers and thinkers for a long time have tried to make things rational because logos was rational. Taoists think with their whole body. They think with their intuition, while Westerners are just supposed to think with their logical mind.
