Hello and welcome to Week 2. We hope you enjoy this week of discussions, remember to introduce yourself, and take part by commenting at the bottom of each section.

In the videos this week, Professor Chris Butler and Dr Mandy Wootton discuss the management of patients with suspected urinary tract infections.

The discussion is informed by Welsh and English antibiotic resistance data from 2014 to 2016, and EU studies between 2013 to 2015 involving women presenting with urinary symptoms. The TARGET UTI Patient leaflet was also launched.

Chris Butler practices as a clinician in Mountain Ash, South Wales and is Professor of Primary Care at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences and Director or the Clinical Trials Unit at the University of Oxford. His main research interests are in common infections and health behaviour change.

Dr Mandy Wootton is the lead Scientist for the Antimicrobial Resistance reference Unit for Wales, is the secretary for the Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing Standing Committee for the British Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC) and has been researching UTI microbiology and antimicrobial resistance for more than 20 years.
