Congratulations on reaching the end of the first week. Hopefully, the materials this week have not only confirmed why being a teacher is such a great profession but have also helped to clarify some of the common myths and fears about teaching.

By looking at a typical day in a primary and a secondary school, as well as some of the different school settings in the UK, we hope that we have helped you to think about where you would like to teach too.

Towards the end of this week, we also started to look at the postgraduate certificate in education – or PGCE – one of the most popular routes into teaching.

Next week, we’ll be exploring the PGCE in more detail in order to help you choose a PGCE course that works for you.

What’s coming up next week?

We’ll compare different PGCE study route options to help you identify the PGCE route which aligns best with your teaching career aspirations.

We’ll also focus on the practical bits of advice about how to get into teaching such as funding options and how to organise in-school experience.

If you’re raring to go, why not get started straight away? All the materials are ready for you to work through at your own pace.

What do you think?

How have you found this first week of the course? What did you learn? Was there anything surprising?
