What is it like to study BA Primary Education with QTS with NITE

.

NITE’s BA Primary Education with QTS is a three-year full-time course available in England that enables you to gain a degree and Qualified Teacher Status.

This is an alternative to a university-based courses as you will spend a minimum of 2.5 days per week (maximum 4 days) gaining hands-on experience in your placement school.

In-school learning activities will include observations of experienced staff, teaching small groups or parts of lessons and team-teaching.  As you work through the programme and your skills and confidence develop, you will take on more responsibility for teaching and during your final year you will reach 80% of a qualified teacher’s timetable to meet the requirements for QTS.

You will have one day per week is dedicated exclusively to your online learning, giving you protected time to focus, reflect, and grow.  The content and study modules that make up the academic course are delivered via our online platforms, which provide online teaching alongside live tutorials, webinars and discussion forums.

This combined approach to training will provide you with subject specific teaching, by our highly experienced staff, as well as enabling vital peer support and a valuable collaborative learning environment. You will be supported to learn from each other, share experiences and reflect away from the school environment.

You will have a personal university tutor and an experienced teacher as your school-based mentor, both of whom will support you throughout the course and help put your learning into practice.

If you currently work in a school, you can stay in employment there and train to teach at the same time if the school is willing to support you while your train. You may also be able to access the course through the Teacher Degree Apprenticeship, which means that your course fees are fully funded.

If you are not employed in a school, you will need to find a school willing to host you for the duration of the course. You may have one in mind, but you can find advice on finding your own placement on our website:
