I do not have a degree, what are my options?

.
To hold Qualified Teacher Status, you must have a degree. But, if you are sure you want to teach, you can study for a degree while you complete your teacher training.

Degrees with QTS

You will find that there are BA degrees that offer QTS. These are usually in education related subjects and will be campus based.

NITE now offers a school-based BA (Hons) in Primary Education. This enables students to be in school throughout their training. One day a week is allocated for academic study, which is delivered through online through live online seminars and tutorials and independent study. For the rest of week, they are in the classroom, learning from their colleagues and pupils with the support of a school-based mentor.

To access these courses, you will need to hold level 3 qualifications, such as A Levels.

Foundation Degrees

If you do not have A Levels, or good enough grades, you could consider taking a foundation degree. This is a Level 5 qualification and could allow you to ‘top up’ to a full degree to achieve QTS.

NITE now offers a school-based Foundation Degree in Professional Practice for Teaching Assistants.
