Early attachment and development

This short video by QUT’s Dr Judith Howard describes the key elements of child development and attachment theory.

To understand the impact of complex trauma on the schooling experience of our students, we need to examine some key areas of theory:

  • Child development theory explores the changes children and adolescents experience as they mature.
  • Attachment theory explores the processes we undergo during development to be able to relate to others.
  • Trauma theory examines the impact of complex trauma on the other two areas of child development and attachment.
