Case studies

How can technology be used purposefully to support learning? Explore video and written case studies from a variety of school settings.
Now that you’ve engaged with research evidence and key debates about how technology can be used in practice, we invite you to explore a range of case studies.

These case studies focus on purposeful technology use to support core aspects of effective teaching practice such as the presentation of new ideas, developing learning that sticks, and enabling effective assessment and feedback; topics we’ll explore in more depth in each of the forthcoming weeks of the course.

As you engage, consider what the case study reveals about the importance of purposeful use of education technologies and reflect on how the approaches might apply to your own context.
The case studies in this section are:
  • Interweaving traditional and digital approaches – In this article, we hear how a secondary school has introduced technology to support effective teaching.
  • Technology for learning that sticks – In this video, we hear about education technologies being used in a variety of ways to support pupils’ learning through retrieval and elaboration.
  • Listen and respond: evaluating the use of audio feedback – In this article, we hear about how using audio feedback has supported pupils’ learning.
When you are ready click the ‘Mark as complete’ button below and then select ‘Interweaving traditional and digital approaches’ to see the first of these three case studies.
