Congratulations on completing Week 2!

This week, you’ve learned how the field of genomics has been developing, the organisational and technical initiatives underpinning it, and about the ethical and equity considerations that need to be embedded in its future development.

You’ve heard a little about some of the ways that patient advocates have been able to contribute so far.

Later in the course, you’ll have the opportunity to develop an advocacy plan of your own. Look out for practical ideas and case study examples in the coming weeks that will help you with this task. In the meantime, you might like to take a moment to think about the institutional landscape where you are, and where you sit within it.

Reflection

Is there a healthcare or research challenge that you’d like to overcome through advocacy? Which organisations would you need to influence in order to achieve that?

Think about this at this point, and you can also make some notes that can be helpful later on in your task in week 5.
