Welcome to Week 3

Introduction to Week 3
7.1
Hi, welcome to week three. My name is Alice Matimba from Wellcome Connecting Science and I develop and organise training in genomics and bioinformatics for scientists in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. My name is Dusanka Nikolic and I’m a senior Education Developer for Wellcome Connecting Science online courses. This week, you will have a chance to apply your learning by designing your own training in the field of genomics. By means of peer review you will receive feedback, and you will give feedback to your fellow learners. You will also hear from our collaborators about delivering bioinformatics training in Africa. As before, please use the common area for discussions with other learners and to leave any questions that you might have.

We will be present during the week and are looking forward to taking part in the conversations.

Week 3 educators welcome you and introduce you to this week’s learning

In Week 3, you will have an opportunity to put into practice learning from the previous two weeks. In this week’s introduction, you will hear about our last case study, describing bioinformatics training in Africa, organised by the H3ABioNet, a pan-African bioinformatics organisation.

You have done a lot of planning for the design of your own course or module throughout the previous two weeks. In this week, you can summarise your ideas in a structured format – then your design will be ready for peer review.

You will be introduced to the peer review process, and be able to submit your assignment – please note this is not a final test for this course, and it is not assessed, but it is your opportunity to apply your learning, receive feedback from your fellow learners and reflect on the ways you can further improve your design.

As always, please leave your comments and questions in the comments area.
