Activity

  • valid point indeed - there is need for modified procedures for emergencies whilst at the same time upholding procurement principles

  • @BuhariSuraka this is an interesting perspective- what sort of training would this be

  • Hello everyone. My name is Anafi Mataka. I am one of the facilitators of this MOOC... I hope you are enjoying the course and look forward to engaging with you...please share your experiences of challenges and success in ensuring continuous availability of commodities...add links where available

  • Important question- colleagues any experiences?
    Currently WHO is leading a consortium of global partners to ensure equitable distribution of commodities across the world. Initial 4 months have been planned but still to early to tell any successes and challenges yet

  • You raise an important point- all stakeholders including the lab need to be involved in forecasting, particularly for common products like PPE

  • Insightful
    Thanks for sharing

  • concerning indeed- how can we ensure the government takes lead- why do you think this is so? partners can provide support but its ideal for governments to lead the response?

  • Interesting perspective - and there is no one approach that fits all- countries should adopt strategies based on scenario in order to efficiently use tests available.

    WHO has defined four transmission scenarios for COVID-19:
    1. Countries with no cases (No cases);
    2. Countries with 1 or more cases, imported or locally detected (Sporadic cases);
    3....

  • Thanks, Charles for noting this- you may find expanded guidance of the document on this WHO technical guidance page https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/technical-guidance/critical-preparedness-readiness-and-response-actions-for-covid-19

  • Donny - indeed with travel restrictions supply chains are challenged. In the next section we provide possible mitigation strategies but not exhaustive
    Kindly share any other experiences from your settings if available

  • Albina. I agree this is an Important consideration indeed. WHO will be rolling the first round Of PT for COVID 19 shortly- ASLM, FIND and partners are also working to ensure we provide additional support associated with EQA activities

  • We also take a look at local production to mitigate supply chain challenges in the next section

  • There is still a lot to be learnt regarding rapid testing at this stage . Join us tommorw at 4pm East African Time to discuss serology and rapid test kits

  • Oarabilie. Indeed supply security will be key. What measures have been put in place to mitigate the risk of testing interruption?

  • Encouraging innovations indeed
    Has there been a challenge with regards with commodities for testing?

  • As we reflect on above examples share your experiences from where you are based as well as possible strategies you have or that have been put in place to solve the supply chain challenges you have had

  • Hello Everyone- Excited to be interacting with you. I am from ASLM, and I'm part of the team that worked on the course materials. Looking forward to learning your experience s over the next 3 weeks... learning COVID 19 Diagnostics together!
