  • @AnneMaguire Thank you for your information.

  • @JonathanPrice Done. I have submitted the review. Hopefully, it will be helpful.

  • @JonathanPrice Hi Jonathan, I emailed you regarding my application to the Culture, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship MA at the University of Leeds. I submitted the application seven weeks ago and look forward to your reply.

  • His mother gave him immersive encouragement and formulated his career, though she left him early. Simon's enthusiasm for design cultivates his success.

  • Fashion is an awareness, a consciousness of individuals and their relationship with the ideological context of a society.

  • From my standpoint, fashion means an advanced quality along with the time process, not only restricted to clothing and adornment or appearance.

  • Hi, I'm Vicky from China and take this course to deepen my insight into the fashion domain that interpreters modern culture.

  • Wow, you are so nice. Thank you for your detailed information and guidance. You have no idea how much I appreciate all of your unexpected reply and consideration. I'm so delighted to meet a lecturer like you when encountering academic or practical problems.

This course is enlightening and mind-provoking, with comprehensive perspectives, applicable models, and case studies from various professionals worldwide.

From the conceptual perspective, the fundraising and project planning cycle helps me rethink when to incorporate fundraising into the whole programme. Moreover, unlike the traditional SWOT analysis...

  • Working with International stakeholders is what I have worked on for two years, but there are few outcomes.

In 2021, I tried to co-work with a British literature organization to apply for the International Collaboration project organized by the British Council. Still, we failed the selection due to limited experience and guidance. Before that, when I worked...

  • Challenges in fundraising are inevitable, especially in the post-pandemic era; however, a positive attitude and thinking more creatively and innovatively is the key to success.

From Christine Stanley's statement, having concrete faith in an organisation and its mission is the foundation when communicating with potential sponsors. It will also boost your...

  • Questions 4-6:

Until now, no ethical policy has been initiated, but I reckon it is necessary, as Mark Hollander demonstrated in Leeds 2023.

Regarding the decision-making process and criteria or ethical issues, which is elusive and complex, I reckon that we should save time and energy by focusing on the shared aims for socially good outcomes instead of...

  • Thanks for the excellent arguments and the case study. They are provoking and illuminating.

    Questions 1-3:

Ethical fundraising is more complicated than the issues discussed in the last two weeks. It is worths plentiful attention in an art and culture organisation.

Frankly speaking, our new start-up has not considered it before. If we have to think so,...

  • A new technology, blockchain and NFT, enables trustworthy and efficient crowdfunding and financial management. NFT can be leveraged as an ownership certificate of a project and a token for trade. This is what I'm planning to practice in a new programme.

In China, except for office groups, most citizens do not get used to using Email to communicate with...

  • To answer the first question, undoubtedly, a crop of effective advocates, patrons and sponsors will help organisations not only survive but thrive. Redefine and identify potential sponsors and donators in varied situations. A new funding model of Artichoke demonstrated in the case study, for example, was fostered during the severe pandemic circumstance and...

  • Before the COVID-19 pandemic, I was invited by a musical professional to America in 2019, initiating a company providing culture exchange and music activities between China and America. However, after three months did I resign the company for this purpose, the unprecedented pandemic broke out, and the whole initiative was held. Then, six months later, the key...

  • OMG, the Sleeping mask with Frida Kahlo elements is so cute.

  • This is a distinguished male artist in this course, provoking a controversial concern of gender identification. First, we should notice that the film technique was not as advanced as today during his period. Therefore he is a pioneer among his counterparts with transformed filmmaking, presenting the topic of eternal.

Second, the video demonstrates a vague...

  • WenJuan Lou made a comment

Surprisingly but interestingly, male artists are found in this course. Yes, there should be some male artists who explore gender and related themes. Michel Journiac's artistic expression of sacred images such as Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and God is intriguing.

I love her persistence and determination toward life and her intentional artistic expression. The symbolic meaning of the spider is marvelous and groundbreaking.

I love the installation, the dialogue between two gigantic fans, which is symbolic and provoking, providing a new dimension of viewing the connection among people.

  • WenJuan Lou made a comment

    Great symbolic expression.

  • WenJuan Lou made a comment

The ideology of this artist breaks the boundary of ethical norms, where she does not think she is a human. What eye-opening art. Here, I also learnt art could be a very pathological thing.

  • The artwork "Encoconnage," in which Françoise Janicot twisted a thick rope around herself from head to toe to the point that she could no longer breathe, present a choking feeling of the pressure of patriarchy. I can clearly resonate with the sense in my life from a female boss and some female friends.

In my view, patriarchy is a symbolic term that refers...

  • Children do need a mother, but a mother can also be an artist.

  • @InekeFioole Amen!~ You are beautiful.

Fantastic piece of artwork. The fur animal is so vivid, which reminds us of the natural world in this symbolic water space.

  • I do love this versatile, talented artist whose enthusiasm for art and diverse art practice enlightened people in her era and behind. The color and abstract pattern elaborated her exquisite artistical design and imagination.

Her terrific marriage and soul-mate husband persuaded me to believe a female artist can also have a happy family.

  • I did so.

  • WenJuan Lou made a comment

I am amazed by this female artist's awareness from a hundred years ago.

  • @InekeFioole So, what's the standardization of beauty and ugly? Everyone is created as beautiful, but the malicious human mind defines it as beautiful or ugly. We need more love from God and view this world with this Agape love; then, you will find everyone is gorgeous, regardless of small eyes, short, or fat.

  • Thank you for the lovely live show of the art exhibition.

  • She has a strong spirit, inspiring confidence, and determined self-awareness.

You are just yourself, and I'm myself.

  • WenJuan Lou made a comment

I do admire her consciousness when talking about feminism in art, "We forger the sex when we are in the workshop," which indicates an inclusive mindset, not an imprisoned binary attitude toward gender.

  • I reckon that the purpose of beauty is to thank and appreciate God's diverse creation through the visual beauty presenting the invisible Holy Spirit.

  • It is notoriously difficult to understand the ill-minded illustration of the confinement mindset on the female body.

  • It is provoking and inspiring. Look forward to ethical fundraising and individual and digital giving models in the following step.

  • Ideally, we will choose to be proactive in any changing environment. However, the fact is that when the NFT Market emerges tons of flippers and scams, which significantly damage the market, hardly can we make a plan to deal with the whole slipping.

We are determined to shape the emergency into a development opportunity and give a thorough analysis of the...

  • Thanks for the case sharing from different organisation professionals and experts.

  • Reaching an internal consensus on all levels needs time and patience, which is the organisation's foundation.

  • With the awareness that failures are inevitable, the Feedback mechanic in this course provides a practical approach to eliminating lost and forge improvement.

  • In a fast-changing world, adaptive resilience is key to a healthy organisation's development. Given that the team members in our organisation are young people with open-mind attitudes to the surroundings and advice, we enlighten any constructive suggestions. We are willing to learn from counterparts in the art and cultural industry.

  • Time and the related support of constant conversation with external partners and sponsors would be a necessity to be invested in fundraising work. Senior leaders should bear the responsibility of empowering and encouraging.

Instead of immediately sponsoring, a long-term relationship should be placed first; therefore, several months-to-year periods must be...

  • @JonathanPrice Thank you for your reply. I'm amazed and appreciate your timely response and academic enlightenment.

  • @JonathanPrice Thank you for your reply. From what I learned in this course, I reflect that the impact of the global pandemic on the Durham Lumia event can be seen as an external factor, a threat, in the TOWS model or the economic and environmental elements in the PESTLE analysis that we should take into consideration when doing our fundraising strategy plan.

  • The critical process in fundraising, identifying key sponsors, and relationship building beyond limited financial scope are impressive. Given by professionals in the creative industry is a plus.

  • Thanks for providing these theoretical but practical tools, and a combination of TOWS, PESTLE, and 5C would be helpful in our analysis and fundraising.

  • Excellent elaboration on the crucial role of fundraisers and the development of organisations in this course is a valuable takeaway. I especially love this section's conclusion: A smart organisation will value a fundraiser's input in strategic decision-making and put in place mechanisms that allow this intelligence to be tapped.

    However, regarding the...

  • I have a question for Sarah Coop, the Development Director of Artichoke: Why did the number of major partners, event partners, and supporters reduce dramatically in 2021 compared to 2019?

  • Apart from the capital investment, the relationship fundraising model is intentionally incorporated into our org, an artistic start-up. However, separated functions and NFT creation in our team restrict big ambition in fundraising practices.

The practical and professional elaboration from Sarah Coop, the Development Director of Artichoke, is extremely...

  • At what stage of the fundraising cycle is the fundraising function usually involved?

As early as the concept and planning shaped and formated, fundraising can be integrated into the precess.

  • It seems that your plan takes the lead.

  • A precise fundraising plan should be considerately prepared, especially when we have too many irons in the fire

  • 1. How does your organisation structure its fundraising functions?
With limited models and strategy, We manage it as a unique activity now, which independently exists in our org related to a few PICs.

    2. How do you build relationships and protect them should a staff member leave?
Our core team member is in charge of fundraising.

  • The main point for a health fundraising process is how the mission and values align with and can be translated into, the values of stakeholders. Therefore, without appreciating values, financial or non-financial formation, and contributing to the stakeholders, hardly can the organisation be sustainable.

Hi everyone, I'm Vicky from China, a core member of an artistic start-up regarding NFT and art. I join this professional course to hone my skills and capacity for fundraising for our development.

I'm glad to meet and learn from like-minded people from all different domains. Presumably, I could meet potential partners and cooperation and collaborations.

  • Hi Judith, I'm glad to meet you on this course, and I'm quite interested in your organisation and your Business Plan.

  • Thanks.

  • Wit, eternal spirit, empathy.

  • Thanks for illuminating the details and potential purpose of each shoot in this scene in the film version. Two distinct methods in film and theatrical performance bring audiences diverse experiences and trigger more thinking. I think that's the reason the cultural industry thrives by incorporating socio-political situations in different eras.

  • Yes, I think the film dialogue captured the essence of the original play, even though with less elaboration. Film and theatrical play are different mediums, so there are distinct production methodologies.

  • Fresh my mind about comparing the script vs. film adaptation from the graph and precise data analysis. A better understanding of the film adaptation.

  • I was fascinated by the theatre director Adele Thomas's enthusiasm for the theatre's arrangement and sending a box of joy to audience.

  • As a modern audience, presumably, it is incredible to experience the manners and behavior and the theatre acoustic effects generated by the original musical instruments of Shakespeare's era.

Exceptionally, the reconstructed Blackfriars theatre at the American Shakespeare Centre in Staunton, Virginia, as Dr. Emma Whipday mentioned, has an Actors' Renaissance...

It's mind-blowing to discern the stage beyond the performance.

  • How did you like it?

  • WenJuan Lou made a comment

Hardly can I see any other fantastic demonstration of functional drama instruments full of dramatic effects.

  • The transparent social levels were plainly unraveled by the costume and cosmetics on the stage.

  • Excellent illumination unravels the developing of actions on stage, e.g., closing distance due to the line "the color of irie."

  • The downside of using cue scripts in performance is the risk of interrupting by mistake and destroying the plot, while the upside is time-saving and high efficiency.

If the audience is conscious of the cues, presumably, they must be surprised by the unexpected dialogue and amazed by the dramatic performance.

Actors must trust each other and listen...

  • I agree with you. This plot is confusing, and the actor may take a risk by interrupting.

  • Wow, it is mind-blowing. The cues work well, and their performances are fascinating, responding to their counterparts accurately with genuine facial expressions and appropriate body language.

  • @KathyMyers Yes, I was thinking the same thing when I watched the performance, wondering how they could catch the repeating lines accurately with a few words in the cues.

  • Thanks for sharing the technique secrets. :P

  • Unexpected final effects and performances on the stage were striking to actors, bookholders, and spectators.

  • 'you speak all your part at once, cues and all.' hahaha... It's hilarious. I can't help to laugh when the image pops into my head.

  • As I perceive, patron for King's Men is an alternative manipulating of soft power.

  • A kind of revolution in the performing industry in Shakespeare's era. And it is fascinating to acknowledge the operation mechanics of Shakespeare's company.

  • Fortunately, I visited the Shakespeare's Globe on the south bank of the Thames in 2016; the senses are familiar. Here comes the acoustic effects, films, and on the stage, yeeeeeeeha.

  • I can't wait to explore more.

  • I have attained not only the conceptual ideas of the modern print industry and the obligations of an editor but also the empirical knowledge through practicing editing in person.

The most attractive parts of this week's syllabus are the acting and reflecting, translating the scripts and printed lines into vivid performances, which is also the last step that...

  • I love the emotional action of Hamlet's hand in Folio, either. I love Beth Park's performance, and her descriptions of the nuances in the two juxtapositions are enlightening and provoking.

  • It was an excellent and captivating performance for both editions. I love the brevity, concise, and clarification narration in Q1, which sounds more catchy and rhythmic.

  • According to modern standards, pronunciation, punctuation, and spelling are relatively less complicated, while the more profound understanding of social context and background is far more intricate.

Having the target, student readers, in mind significantly contribute to the option of editing approach. Leveraging an approachable editing method and simple...

  • It's a pity that converging with Shakespeare himself is elusive.

  • Presumably, the editor's ideology and editing methodology will significantly impact the final transformation of a single play and the audience's comprehension.

  • Compared to groceries and other commercial products in the corresponding period, the physical books from the Publisher of Arden Shakespeare have been exceptionally affordable to the majority. With this added value to society, academics and the public have gained enormous benefits.
