  • Welcome Bijay - and great to have you in the course. Don't forget you can join our growing Parent Professional Network on Linkedin here https://www.linkedin.com/groups/14023658/ where you can meet and connect with likeminded parents

  • Interesting as a teacher you've highlighted teaching..do you think this is a positive impact? would love to hear your thoughts

  • Hey David - good to have you on board! I think we're all a little worried about the uncertainty...but at least we know we're not alone!

If you're interested we have a professional parents group on Linkedin where you can learn from other parents in other industries. You can join here https://www.linkedin.com/groups/14023658/

  • Interesting in regards to group sizes...we agree with your suggestion of 11 (although we've gone for 12) for our new Career Huddles - peer to peer learning and exploration. We find these group sizes work really well and give variety, but also voice to all those involved.

  • I know a lot of people in the construction industry that are excited about the possibility of 3d printing in the industry - and if it's combined with more sustainable materials it will be a very exciting development :)

  • Amazing!! Welcome to the course Frank...what I love is the perspective you'll be able to give to your grandchildren as you will have seen so much change in the workforce. I'm really looking forward to hear your thoughts and views :)

We also have a group on Linkedin for parents (and grandparents) - hope to see you engage with the growing community :)...

  • wow - thanks for sharing this Nayana...I share your hope for face to face...but like you say the digital world can make things far more accessible and inclusive for all :)

  • Welcome Nayana - great to hear a parent and educator is learning about the future changes/challenges :) It would be great to get some of your insights in our parents group on Linkedin - you can find us here https://www.linkedin.com/groups/14023658/

  • Hey Deborah - I hope you find some of the content interesting and helpful. As another note we have launched a parent Linkedin group where you can meet/discuss future of work and opportunities with parents from diverse industries/backgrounds. You can find the group here https://www.linkedin.com/groups/14023658/

  • Hey Adriana - great you're helping your little sis :) If you ever want to join one of our live events just let me know

  • You're right - we all need to keep updating our skills to make sure we're relevant whatever our industry (and to be able to keep up with the next generations - if not our kids, but our grandkids!!)

  • The pace is indeed frightening and it becomes harder and harder for us to keep up.

  • 100% agree - there is such a focus on technology, but the human factor is still critical and those that will be successful in the future of work will need to master both :)

  • Hey Flavia - amazing to have another parent committed to supporting their families in the future of work. Welcome to the course and looking forward to follow your progress. Don't forget you can also chat to us in person and be part of our growing community of parents supporting their children thrive in the future of work :)

  • Yes Yes Yes!! We need more schools to bring themselves into line with where technology is moving. However, I'm also aware that many schools are restricted through financial capabilities and also restrictions from rigid centralised government approaches in education. More teachers like yourself will fuel the digital revolution in schools :)

  • It will be interesting to see Yosra - I think the role of teachers will change as hopefully technology will allow them to focus on a more personal approach to teaching. My own daughter uses a lot of technology for her maths at school (which means we can also be supported as parents at home in improving our own capabilities!), which means the teacher can adapt...

  • Nice to meet you Yosra and you have an important role supporting young people in their digital skills (of which will be critical when they enter the job market!). We also work with schools in helping bridge the gap between academia and the world of work - so hopefully hear more about your role and school :)

  • I have a few friends that make very successful livings from blogging (they also went on to become book authors!). I think you're very much correct with gaming - stats highlight that within the next decade the gaming industry will be bigger than traditional sports in terms of viewers and revenue! I wonder what will come next - exciting to follow :)

  • Agree 100% Aliya and great to hear other parents share the same commitment to their families :)

  • Agreed @SARAHGRACEMARCOJOS - and as parent's it's our responsibility :)

  • If they don't they are being very naive. one issue we see with parents is that they don't understand how roles/job types are changing as many still believe the traditional job types are the 'safe' option, but with the advancements in tech are roles such as accountants/lawyers still a safe bet?

  • I agree with you and love the social contact and feel it's a great way to learn within a career. However, I've seen first hand how the next generation are pushing for more mobile remote work (we are seeing companies struggle to get employees back in the office and staff are very much pushing for more remote work).

This is leading to more organisations to...

  • Could you ever imagine yourself conversing with a robot Guenter? What about the next generation?

  • It's an interesting point around nursing as I'm sure we'll see technology used more and more over time. I think there will be a much bigger blend of nurses working with support robots/AI. An example is in tasks such as moving bed patients, this is a heavy/strenuous task. Check out https://www.wired.com/story/moxi-hospital-robot-nurse-burnout-health-care/ it is...

  • We hear a lot about BIG data at the moment and how it will help us develop new products and services to solve pressing needs, but as you say it needs to be finding the right information.

  • It's great to hear you'll be mentoring young people when you retire - I think experience get's overlooked at times. Will you mentor young people in a specific industry of just generally?

  • It's interesting to hear how your role has changed over the years - do you think the change has been speeding up in the last few years? I think we're a way off places closing, but it will be interesting to follow how quickly technology plays an increased role in your industry.

  • I think you're right - it will also be interesting to see 'how' we program robots :)

  • Hey Jo...thanks for introducing yourself to the community :) I wonder if the new generation would even recognise a manual typewriter!! I think my kids would struggle to figure out how to use a landline telephone!! But in their defence I'm starting to struggle with their new technology!
