  • Hi I am MA student in psychology in my country.

  • agreed

  • superb

  • Sometimes you can show the downloaded pictures of he items you are teaching such as clothing. They do pretty much the same as the real ones.

  • There are some reasons why I teach online including:
    1. Being able to travel whenever you want.
    2. Not having to pay rent for office
    3. Avoiding traffic jam
    4. Having access o a larger market
    4. Last but not least, providing quality teaching for less privileged areas.

  • This one really means something. Itll be handy

  • She can easily record the sessions and listen to them later again.

  • Instagram

  • Awesome

  • Google meet or Adobe connect

  • Great

  • Generally, some apps do not work normally in some countries. So I reckon one problem might be finding an appropriate app to contact with each other.

  • Just my name and possibly job.

  • I agree with following gut feelings.

  • I realy learned from the provided links. Thank you.

  • Mohsen is an MA holder in applied linguistics and he has been teaching English as a foreign language for more than 15 years. He has taught at international universities and schools.

  • I dont think Laura is on the right track.

  • This academic year I had my laptop broken, due to the unprecedented raise in dollor rate, I had to pay around 6 months of my slalary to buy a decent one for my online teaching.

  • Evaluating materials to be used online is a necessary skill

  • Nowadays, being able to read and write is not literacy but how to use computer and internet indeed is.

  • As a teacher, I do agree with quizzes and reflection times.

  • Yes we do. At least we need to learn how to use online materials and search engines.

  • They may have to spend more than they receive.

  • She has to be versatile in her job.

  • Hello. I am Mohsen. I am currently teaching grade 6 in an international school.

  • Thank you for this informative and pragmatic course.

  • Not only have I saved many a resources, but also I shared the highlights with my colleagues.

  • I learned about the power of working online. now I think how (as a supervisor) I can observe my colleagues' synchronous sessions to ensure the quality.

  • in my work place, there are PD workshops and forums. we also use moodle to share, give and receive feedback.

  • for me, having a plan B is what I learned during my online classes once more.

  • for my public (online) classes there is also a survey students have to do online in 5 mins to get access to their midterm or final exam scores.

  • currently I try to feedback constructively and in case there are weaknesses I do my best to double-sugarqoute in order not to disturb my Ss' fragile moral these days.

  • I try both synchronous and asynchronous assessment, however I try to do it in chunked by chunked fashion.

  • they are nuts and bolts of teaching because they both can show us how much progress have we had.

  • I learned to be kind with myself. I really helps me go forward with more energy after some nice relaxation and rest.

  • Happy, enthusiastic and secure.

  • Thank you all! I am learning a lot here.

  • Sometimes, I still forget to be kind with myself and spend hours before the screen.

  • Actually, Regularly, I ask my Ss at both at the beginning and the end of each session to give me a feed back for the session(s) done. After today, I guess I will try different ways introduced here as well.

  • I try to provide collaboration between my Ss by giving them some task based projects.

  • simply put, variety is the spice of life. offering different challenges to Ss will make learning more fun.

  • I will go for flipped model as I have around 20 Ss in each class. It is better to prepare them beforehand. I think this way I can improve efficiency.

  • Since nowadays I am teaching General English and Conversation classes online, collaboration is the learning type I try my best to promote.

  • I definitely agree with you. The other day a student of mine sent private message stating that her father needs the only PC available at home for his job and she has to use her cellphone to get connected.

  • We have made a whatsapp group for sharing off the class questions and answers in addition to motivational posts. this way we have a kind of 24/7 office hours, sometimes with some delay in responses though.

  • I think ,for general English courses, speaking skill one of the most important one to be worked on online because the majority of activities require interaction.

  • Our school uses LMS and it is safe regarding the fact that students have to log in using their unique user names and passwords. There is also a course description along with weekly plans. Ss are supposed to upload some of their assignments. Each session is recorded and will be available offline in case any student can not attend the class, Their online...

  • I teach English in different fields such as ielts preparation, general English at prep.schools in international universities and private general English classes.

  • practical ideas are suggested in this article. the breathing technique is really simple but efficient. Personally, I video call my dearests and nearests like family members or friends. Once I even used Group video chat to gather 4 families together online resulting in a stress free conversation.

  • Dear Matt, Felicity, and Monty, I really appreciate your efforts and hard work to keep this course run perfectly.

  • Found it flexible, omnipresent and affordable

  • As I said teaching online is not new to me but the scale today is much different. One thing that really helped in this course was the topic "curate don't create" since I had been creating and developing my own materials. in addition, I try to use more of the resources introduced here.

  • That was what just the doctor ordered! I really need to refresh myself sometimes and get away from the screen.

  • I did the same. shared them with my colleagues.

  • Thank you for invaluable resources. I found the ones for adults really interesting. however I just managed to navigate through some and unfortunately didn't have enough time to check all in details.

  • in order to avoid both teacher and student's confusion and even to put them out of their current comfort zone, I think if what you are using now work wells, why bother introducing new platforms?

  • I didn't use to have any problems teaching my private classes online. Not only did we have enough interactions, but also there were high quality video chats. My biggest challenge ,recently, is conducting the sessions as interactive as possible not to mention slower internet speed and lower video or audio chat quality. Therefore, I am trying to devise and...

  • I feel comfortable with the platforms that I have been using and following be kind to yourself approach i prefer to remain faithful to them. however this Zoom platform arouse my curiosity and I may just take a quick look at it.

  • I am using meet.google.com for some of classes to have live video chats, it works well and smoothly most of the times. We are also using a web based virtual class service for university called Big Blue Button and it provides us some facilities like virtual white board, presentation options and more.

  • I am teaching undergraduates from different nationalities. I have met them in person before corona pandemic and we have had real life classes in three weeks. Now some of them went back to their countries and some are staying at dorms. We started online teaching around 10 days ago and since then we have had many technical problems such as internet speed, lack...

  • Hello, I am Mohsen originally from Iran, but currently I am living and working in Cyprus. I have my MA in TEFL and I have been teaching for around 15 years. Currently I teach General English in University's Prep-school and I teach ielts preparation online due to the fact that the majority of my students are in my home country. Back in Iran I used to be a...

  • Dear Varvara I woud like to cooperate with different teachers as well. I would be glad to connect to you.

  • I am used to teaching online but just in small scale classes maximum 5. These classes are called semi-private in my course descriptions. As I was teaching in university as well, this corona situation made us conduct our non-applied courses online in large scale (up to 60 students) and that is a new challenge for me. I hope I can contribute to this course and...

  • Currently we are obliged to conduct some of our classes online and wehave accessibility problems ( the internet or other infrastructures). For instance, when a group of students (20 in my case) simultaneously get online and try to use dormitories' wifi, everything that had been working smoothly, stops to function normally.

  • Using idiomatic expression is difficult for me.
