Help to enhance your skills as a highly competent communicator in the global workplace

To be a good communicator, you need to understand what makes communication effective. This program has been designed to produce highly competent communicators upon successful completion. You’ll be encouraged to work towards demonstrating an understanding of communication theory, as well as skills currently required in the modern, international workplace.

Combining communication theory with practice, you’ll be asked to explore persuasive writing, technical writing, and writing in a business/commercial context. With an aim to develop your spoken communication skills, you’ll cover topics such as presentations, the art of persuasion, meetings and negotiations.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion, you should be able to:

  • Analyse different methods of communication
  • Apply the core communication principles to an organisation
  • Analyse and reflect on your own communication skills with a GAP analysis for the skills required for a First Line Manager role
  • Describe the skills required with an action plan
  • Justify appropriate methods and tools of communication which reflect the needs of the audience
  • Discuss the way in which organisational culture can affect communication in the workplace
