Corporate Finance: M&A, Corporate Governance and Islamic Finance

Explore the issues of mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, ethics and the emerging field of Islamic finance.

This program is part of the PgC Finance degree offered by The Open University

Develop your knowledge of corporate finance.

The first part of the program will acquaint you with the topic of mergers and acquisition. This includes quantitative finance and its practical applications to project appraisal, company valuation, methods and risk management.

The second part introduces corporate governance, ethics and disclosure of information in both national and international contexts, which are the heart of responsible financial management in our era.

The final part explores the emerging field of Islamic finance tracing its origins, scope and implications for financial decisions in a global economy.

Who will you learn with?

I am a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the Open University and lead its MSc in Finance. My research is on the financing of innovative businesses, venture capital and frictions in financial markets.

I am a Chartered Accountant who, before moving into teaching, worked in the real estate investment and development sector. I have also been a director on a number of investment funds.
