This program aims to develop your critical and practical understanding of the fundamentals of data recovery while addressing the theory and technical elements of data storage and operating systems.

This is a professional certification from AccessData, a global company offering industry-leading forensic solutions. You will engage with critical issues regarding data recovery and compliance with the Association of Chief Police Officers Principles of Digital Evidence (2012), while applying that theory to your own practice.

Bob Bird

Bob lectures on a BSc under-graduate degree course in Ethical Hacking and the MSc courses: CyberSecurity & Forensic Computing for which he is the Course Director. Bob was a police officer for 30 yrs.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program you should be able to:

  • Apply the knowledge and skills necessary to install, configure and effectively use Forensic Toolkit (FTK), FTK Imager, Password Recovery Toolkit (PRTK), and Registry Viewer
  • Evaluate the AccessData products to conduct forensic investigations on Microsoft Windows systems and learn where and how to locate system artefacts
  • Analyse the artefacts of data recovery that compromise the study of computer forensics
  • Synthesise the knowledge gained and practical skills acquired in using the various forensic tools to exploit advanced processing options to examine evidence, examine Live and Index searching, including TR1 Regular Expressions
