Examine the global business environment, its evolution and dynamics

This program aims to introduce you to the processes of economic globalisation and how these dynamics shape the contemporary global business environment. You will have the opportunity to explore the main trends in economic globalisation since 1945, the roles of multinational corporations and states in driving economic globalisation, and the operation of global markets for resources and goods.

You will also have the chance to consider how the state–multinational relationship contributes to the global business environment in key economic sectors.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion, you should be able to:

  • Develop the ability to think critically and systematically about competing explanations for economic globalisation since 1945
  • Critically assess the role of multinational corporations in the development and operation of global markets for resources, goods and services
  • Analyse the global business environment in different industrial sectors and evaluate the strategies corporations deploy to manage those environments
  • Demonstrate understanding of the global business environment by communicating, both verbally and in writing, complex ideas and arguments about the evolution and dynamics of the world economy
  • Locate, identify and synthesise appropriate information to design, conduct and report research into business and management issues, both individually and as part of a team
