Understand the importance of mobile in the digital world

In 2016, mobile use overtook desktop use. On this course, you will explore what mobile is, the growth of mobile technology and benefits associated with it. You will discover why industry experts often refer to “mobile” as “mobility”, and you will find out about mobile products like wearable technology. You will explore what mobile design is by understanding key design concepts and development approaches which will help you to build an effective mobile app. We’ll look at why the ‘Internet of Things’ is the new mobile hot topic, and explore some of the potential security issues involved.

Skip to 0 minutes and 13 secondsThere are three lessons in this module: an introduction to mobility, designing and building mobility, and the Internet of Things. By the end of this module, you should be able to, firstly, understand what mobility is, its growths, and the benefits. Secondly, understand some concepts, such as wearables. Thirdly, understand a bit more about design, so things like wireframes and what makes a good or bad app. Fourthly, understand the different development approaches to building apps. And fifthly, learn about the Internet of Things and the security risks involved in it. This module is assessed in two ways. At the end of each lesson, there is a multiple choice quiz with five questions on the videos that you've seen to check your understanding.
