MICHIEL WAGEMAKERS: Hi. My name is Michiel Wagemakers. I’m a neurosurgeon here at the University Medical Centre Groningen. During this course, I will be talking to you about the decision making during awake surgery and some anatomy of the brain.

GEA DROST: I’m Gea Drost. I’m a neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist, and in this course, I will talk about direct electrical cortical stimulation and about how to record brain activity during and after awake surgery.

ANTHONY ABSALOM: My name is Anthony Absalom, and it’s my pleasure to be involved in this course. I’m an anesthesiologist, and so I am involved in the course to explain to you the role of the anesthesiologist, which is to keep the patient safe and comfortable throughout the procedure.

WENCKE VEENSTRA: My name is Wencke Veenstra. I’m a neuropsychologist and a clinical linguist. I’m involved in pre- and post-operative neuropsychological assessment in patients who apply for awake surgery. In this course, I will teach you about the tailor-made approach for task selections for patients who apply for awake surgery.
