Airdrops

This video discusses Airdrops which are an important strategic tool for many Web3 projects.

Airdrops are an important strategic tool for many Web3 projects. They are a way to distribute a project’s native tokens to different addresses, on a set of criteria, to achieve a range of objectives.

Airdrop icon Airdrops are typically targeted at addresses that might be current or future users of the key product of the project.

According to Decrypt:

Airdrops are a method of distributing tokens to users or potential users. More recently, they’ve been used to create DAOs by transferring ownership and responsibilities from a core team to its decentralised users.

This definition makes it clear that airdrops have many aims — as part of a launch strategy, a decentralisation strategy and a marketing strategy. The structure of airdrops varies widely, depending on these aims. Airdrops can be implemented at any stage in a Web3 project, but typically they are an early-stage launch tool.
