In week 1, we discussed the importance of an organisation understanding its ecosystem. We also explored how megatrends may cause disruption. All this leads us to appreciate that we now live in a world of volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA).

We know that change and disruption may lead to instability in an organisation, but we also know that change may bring with it new opportunities. This week we will start to explore how the EFQM Model helps organisations to make sense of this VUCA world and manage successfully within it.

The EFQM Model provides a framework that will help to:

  1. Align the organisation to its Purpose and Vision.
  2. Nurture an organisational culture that supports outstanding performance.
  3. Encourage flexibility and innovation.
  4. Create sustainable value for key stakeholders.
  5. Maintain high performance levels whilst transforming the organisation.
  6. Manage the impact of external factors.
  7. Manage the relationship with key stakeholders, and other players, in the organisation’s ecosystem.
  8. Understand current strengths and identify the strategically important areas that need improvement.

Which of these would be most helpful for your organisation at this moment in time?
