An introduction to the course from Professor Kiran Trehan

Professor Kiran Trehan introduces the MOOC, and explains how the university is making enterprise everyone's business.

Welcome to the course – we start with a short welcome video from Professor Kiran Trehan!

Over the next three weeks, we will investigate the world of enterprise. The course will cover some of the useful activities and ‘design thinking’ process which the best founders and entrepreneurs use to test their ideas and ascertain whether they’re viable. Together, we will focus on the following areas:

  • Finding good startup ideas
  • Testing problems
  • Listening to customers
  • Developing ideas into businesses
  • Leveraging early users
  • Funding and sales tips

Please note that active tutor facilitation is limited to the number of teaching weeks from when the course run started. Please do not therefore expect any further tutor engagement from beyond then, although you are very welcome to continue to work through the course materials in a self-directed fashion from that point.

Learning outcomes

As we work through the materials and activities, we will enable you to:

  • Identify and test ideas
  • Assess and measure potential customer appetite
  • Model how to fit key partners and beneficiaries together
  • Develop sales projections and costs
  • Explore how to build growth strategy
