Case study: RethinkResource

A video introducing the work of RethinkResource - a company set up to exploit the value in food production side streams.

Orange peels, coffee grounds and fruit pomace (the solid remains after pressing for juice) are just a few of many production side-streams in the food industry. Even though they’re often regarded as waste, they have significant value. Linda Grieder founded the company RethinkResource in 2016 to address this lost value.

It’s a Swiss company with a mission to turn industrial side-streams into sustainable new products and business opportunities. For the company, the key to a sustainable future is responsible handling of resources. The team provides project management support and business cases for the creation of sustainable products in collaboration with customers and partners.

Watch this video to gain an insight into the work of RethinkResource and you’ll find out about one of their projects where wheat bran, a side-stream of the milling industry, is reused as a substrate for growing fine mushrooms.
