Introduction to vitamin D

video

Prof Yang will introduce Vitamin D in this video. Vitamin D plays an important role in muscle function by improving muscle strength, endurance, and recovery. It helps regulate calcium and phosphorus levels, which are crucial for muscle contractions and overall muscle health. Vitamin D also helps reduce inflammation, which can lead to muscle damage and decreased performance. Additionally, Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to muscle weakness, fatigue, and an increased risk of falls and injuries in older adults.

At present, the most discussed method for the prevention or treatment of sarcopenia is exercise, whether alone or in combination with nutritional supplements. Exercise can be roughly divided into three types, such as aerobic, anaerobic, and agility training. Each type has different functions for physical health. In recent, prebiotics and probiotics are also regarded as muscle-making supplements based on the gut-muscle axis theory.
