Exercising for 60 and Beyond

The older we get the more important physical activity becomes.

Playing shuffleboard, horseshoes, dad dancing at wedding are the kind of activites we picture our older parents, neighbors and friends doing.

Of course a great fallback is walking, but remember that this can occur at museums, shopping malls, arboretums, farmer’s markets, zoos and aquariums and amusement parks. Such places provide not only exercise but intellectual and aesthetic stimulation and can be done socially. Most communities have a senior center which may offer dance and other forms of exercise. Also consider swimming, gardening, yoga and tai chi. Artwork: Older adult engaged in one of the activities mentioned.
