Journal club: Ghana and the world

Video introducing a scientific article for discussion

In this discussion session, Leigh presents you with a commentary posted on the International Network for Governmental Science Advice website

Think about the following questions and discuss them in the comments below:

  • How effective was your government at communicating science to the public in the early stages of the pandemic?
  • How did the pandemic influence local scientific and diagnostic infrastructure in Ghana and your own country and what are the longer-term implications of this?
  • Regardless of whether you agreed or disagreed with policy decisions at the time, do you believe they were adequately informed by the best possible science and if not, how could this communication to policymakers be improved in future?
