The importance of Flearning

.
squiggles
“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realise how close they were to success when they gave up.”
Thomas A. Edison

Learning from failure

Failure isn’t the end – rather it is a defining point that leads to future successes.

Flearning (learning from failure, not FutureLearning) is a new terminology which helps individuals and organisations to learn from mistakes and failures – strengthen and grow as a result.

Sometimes what might seem an insurmountable barrier for us, is a relatively easy work-around for another. Regardless of our choices in life, we will all experience failure, disappointment and criticism at some stage in our lives.

It can feel like the end of the world, we can want to give up – BUT – we don’t have to!

We can make the choice to learn from the experience, adapt to our new knowledge, and progress forward – wiser in the knowledge gained from our past experiences.

In fact, successful people HAVE failed. The important thing is that they have learnt from the experience and kept going.

Prototyping is an excellent example of planned Flearning. The idea around prototyping is it is testing out ideas – not trying to get it perfect in the first iteration!

A great example of a proposal which was tested and found to not be suitable (contrary to what we might “assume”) can be found here:
