How to get the most out of this course

These tips from our course educators will help you get the most out of the course.

If this is your first FutureLearn course, you’ll find it very easy to use. We hope these tips will help make this a useful learning experience for you.

Tip 1

Just dive in! On almost every step of the course you’ll be asked to share your thoughts, ideas and opinions. You might feel a bit nervous or shy about this, but please don’t! This is such a great opportunity to learn together with people all over the world – make the most of it!

Tip 2

Remember, this is a showcase You don’t need to complete or even look at every module unless you would like to earn a certificate. Simply dip in and out of the activities that interest you!

Tip 3

Talk to people. As well as sharing your own ideas in the comments, read what over people have written and reply to interesting comments. Start a conversation!

Tip 4

Follow interesting people. You can ‘like’ interesting comments by clicking ‘Like’ and you can also ‘follow’ people if you want to easily find their comments.

Tip 5

Use the filters. There can be a lot of comments but you can use tools on FutureLearn to help you find the things you’re interested in. When you look at the comments you’ll see two drop-down menus – ‘Sort’ and ‘Show by’

You can choose to only see the comments from people you’re following (such as the educators) or only see the comments you have bookmarked to read later. You can also use ‘sort by’ to find the most liked comments and the most active or interesting conversations.

Tip 6

It’s your course! You can go as fast or as slow as you want to. You can jump into activities from specific providers that interest you, do not feel the need to be a completionist, if part of the course is less relevant to your needs, feel free to skip!
