Navigating your course

In this step you will learn how to use the FutureLearn platform to work through this course.

This course is delivered on the world-leading FutureLearn platform. FutureLearn is optimised for modern browsers and while you’ll get the best experience using one of these we want to make sure that everyone, anywhere can access our content. This course has been structured over ten weeks and should take you around 30 hours to complete.

  • iOS 11 with Safari or Chrome

To do

The “To do” page is a list of all the course content separated into Weeks, Sections, and Activities.

Activity

The “Activity” page is a feed of all comments being made on a course. You might find it useful to quickly scan any interesting comments from educators and other learners who are on your course. If you click on a comment that you’re interested in, it takes you to the full conversation in the comments section of that step.

Comments

At the bottom of each step you will notice a “Comments” section where you can participate in discussions, share your ideas and post links to useful content. It is also a platform for you to engage with other learners as you work through the course.

Progress

Not only can you see at a glance which steps you have or haven’t completed on your “To do” list, you can also see how much of a course you’ve completed, including all of your test scores, on your “Progress” page.

In order to make sure this is up-to-date, don’t forget to hit “Mark as complete” every time you finish a course step as shown below: mark as complete

Course Tracking

You will be able to resume your learning from the last step you visited. Simply click on the “Continue’ button.

Completing the course

Learners are assessed through quizzes and a final assessment. To pass this course, you must receive a grade of 70% or higher on the Final Assessment. You will have 3 attempts to pass but in the event that the minimum pass mark is not met you will have the opportunity to resit at a later date.
