Less? – a short film about compassionate care

Less? is a film of personal stories and journeys to health from people who have experienced and overcome homelessness.

Last week we considered why it was important to listen to a range of different people and communities.

To start this week, we want to you to watch LESS?, a recently released film about the journeys through healthcare of some people with experience of homelessness.

It looks at some of the barriers that people have come up against when trying to get health and care. These include attitudes of staff – which might make us reflect on our own roles as staff members, and how proactive we are.

It’s worth considering that although this film focuses on people with experience of homelessness, the film could as easily be made with a focus on people from other marginalised communities.

As you watch the video, think about:

  • How could people’s experiences of health and care have been improved?
  • What does this video reveal about why it’s important to engage with people with specific lived experience?
  • How might you go about engaging with people with lived experience of homelessness?
