What is a phobia?

A phobia is an unnecessary large fear of a certain situation, thing or animal. Phobias occur quite often: more than 10% of all youngsters have one or more of these phobias.

One of the most common phobias is fear of heights, but there are many more, such as fear of

  • small, confined spaces
  • large open spaces
  • flying
  • blood and needles
  • dogs
  • spiders
  • snakes
  • thunder / lightning
