The International Platform On Sport And Development Offers Sponsored Courses On FutureLearn
Leading global hub, The International Platform on Sport and Development (sportanddev), has partnered with online learning platform, FutureLearn, to offer sponsored courses on sport and sustainable development. The free course, titled ‘Sport for Sustainable Development: Designing Effective Policies and Programmes’ has been published in four languages: English, French, Spanish and Arabic, with future plans to publish in Ukrainian and Portuguese.
Developed in collaboration with the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the course explores the ways in which sport can actively contribute to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other objectives.
On the course, learners will:
- Look at the benefits and limitations of using sport in development.
- Learn to design, implement, and measure the impact of sport-based policies and programmes using best practices.
- Explore key concepts on sport and gender equality, disability, human rights, social inclusion, peacebuilding, good governance and safeguarding.
- Discover how to make a positive impact in and through sport.
With the 2024 Paralympic Games in full swing, FutureLearn and The International Platform on Sport and Development are demonstrating their commitment to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. This collaborative partnership (SDG 17) will ensure all learners have access to high-quality education and lifelong learning opportunities (SDGs 4 & 10).
