Achievements

Activity

  • Hoping it works for me

  • Living in Mexico but have lived in the middle east ,south américa and home country is UK, interested in what we do worldwide,

  • Looking forward to this course , I’m not shy and I’m not timid but I’m useless at communicating ,not only at work but generally in life , this course should help me change.

  • Blackmail seems to be always in the background

  • It’s a personal change I have to make and yes at times it has backfired , people can be offended and you can lose relationships, I was brought up in an environment where bad language between males was more or less obligatory.

  • Stephen Small made a comment

I need to learn to ignore the simple comments that I take personally (when probably 90% are not meant in a personal way) I need to stop reacting in an argumentative way when I should simply be looking for clarification or simply ignoring, Maybe I should learn the counting 1 to 10 trick before I respond

  • it appears that resilience can be learnt (my search engine told me), we just need to become stronger, accept change, worry less are some of the suggestions!

  • I tend to make life changing decisions based on instinct, not very good at it though, the problem I have is to share or explain those instincts to anyone else , perhaps my perceived lack of resilience is down to not being able to trust the decisions or advice of others.

  • sort of storing for the winter months!

  • more generative ?, could it mean building up resistance?, could it mean becoming stronger in sort of incremental stages, or generating support from friends/ family?

  • The ability to recover quickly probably sound right or the ability to resist, or both combined!

  • Invincible is a strong word, I don[t really relate to resilient, maybe I like the metaphor of the rubber ball better.

  • I tend to become inverted and uncommunicative when things get a little tough, maybe it´s because of my age and the way I was brought up ,where to ask for help or show any type of emotion was seen as a weakness.

  • Looking forward to this course ,i believe we will enjoy

  • Hoping to expand my knowledge and perhaps change my mindset a little when it comes to communication with other people.

  • I will re-read my comments before posting in order to be sure of their suitability,
I will not us offensive language in my posts (anymore)

  • It was a racist joke and not a particularly funny one, did she deserve to be ridiculed ? , probably yes for a while, did she deserve to have her life ruined???
    A subjective question.

  • oops …..maybe we need to change!

  • As I´m new to this "fake news" does seem to be one of the main concerns, hopefully by following a few tips and by trial and error I will learn as I go along.

  • I[m learning something new here and its good

  • You´ve just opened up a new range of choices, thank you

  • Every little piece of knowledge helps.

  • Stephen Small made a comment

It has helped me understand the actions I can take to become more successful in my on line education

  • I didn´t do so well on this , the first part I managed to write something ,second part was a disaster but fore sure it is my fault as i had to jump from explorer to chrome to Edge and whatever.
It´s clear I need to spend a little more time on this

  • Stephen Small made a comment

Comfortable to add?, probably once I gained the confidence and if I was sure my information was accurate.

  • The secret is in the title "a wicked problem", there is no perfect answer, we can stop to buy and then how do the people who grow the ,cotton, who process the material, who sew the clothes live? we take away their work, we can recycle , same result! one suggestion I have seen in the comments below is to only use biodegradable clothing, bring on the innovation...

  • The message is clearly that good manners are expected of us , quite right of course.

  • Stephen Small made a comment

    go for it

  • Stephen Small made a comment

Good manners are applicable in all aspects of our life.

  • the video grabs my attention .

  • I find it easier to stay back in the office when everyone has left, apart from the service personnel I´m alone.

  • An opportunity for all as long as I take a disciplined approach!

  • Here at Future Learn at this site.

  • Future Learn ,course with Leeds University on Innovation: The Worlds Greatest and I managed to pass the quiz at the end but!!! I think I was just lucky. Desktop computer.

  • Stephen Small made a comment

    Thanks

  • Previous experience has shown me that I lack concentration, my mind wanders or I skip paragraphs because I think I know the content anyway, hopefully this course will help me to change my mindset.

  • Introduce transitional return-to-work arrangements

  • First time I have heard of it and our HR department were unaware of it and do not use, it seems simple enough but obviously a number of factors would have to be analysed before you could draw any conclusion.

  • Very robust and controlled in general

  • We have a consistent and fair policy ,however we need the line managers to follow the procedure which sometimes fails.

  • I don´t believe the situation is difficult to deal with or at least it wouldn´t have been if the situation had been controlled from the beginning with a few quiet words, personally i follow a proactive way of avoiding problems where possible.

  • Danny has found that its not so difficult to miss a day or a half day or slip away early, Grace is a little late getting on the case and is avoiding her responsibilities, the rest of the team will be feeling used and will not be performing at their best , time for a face to face discussion possibly with HR presence.

  • Feedback is so important without it the results lose their impact

  • We have done a few staff surveys and the results were promising

  • Scored around the 40 mark, meaning we do have action to take

  • 20 minutes in reception…….great idea and very logical….thanks

  • the appraisal has to be shared and discussed with the employee

  • Lack of Communication and Control

  • we scored (by my reckoning) 4´s across the board, nearly there but not quite

  • we use something very similar

  • Risk assessment not performed or incorrectly performed, no tool box talks, poor maintenance, lack of training ,lack of PPE, No documented procedure.

  • agree 100%

  • I believe this can be effectively controlled by initiating the correct procedures and check activities,

  • We often have people working in the desert travelling hundreds of miles alone to remote locations, we insist on a timed journey plan with specified call in times.

  • Lead by example the only way to manage.

  • That one step more and the recognition that the audits are an opportunity for improvement is the reason for success along with of course the management commitment.

  • HSE is the responsibility of all of us and that's clear , however it does not remove the overall responsibility of management.

  • We have a very clear HSE policy which is well publicised and posted throughout the office / site, documented procedures are available, risk analysis performed and we have a dedicated HSE leader and supporting team. All personnel receive obligatory HSE training and the whole subject is under the direct supervision of the MD.

  • they have an excellent system and appear to be taking good care of their employees , very proactive, good training and a correct risk analysis being the key.

  • We had a release of an ammonia cloud in the early 2000´s in South America which while it did not result in any deaths did force the evacuation of the site and the local town, cause was later found to be a faulty valve.

  • Relationships have been a problem in the past, we are now seeing the company promote positive actions in this area, team building , the movement of people and conciliation talks all being positive actions.

  • From a personal point of view technology has been my major stress "problem", I´m an older employee used to writing things down, used to having a secretary/assistant especially when at site , I´ve always had a state of the art laptop but never had to use it for anything more than e-mail or using the internet. Now I´m office based and expected to produce my own...

  • We have preventive campaigns during the year, these normally involve a half our chat/toolbox meeting with our company doctor, usually once a month with various themes, such as high blood pressure , diabetes, the need for exercise, we have campaigns for healthy eating etc etc.

  • Campaign for healthy eating , lunchtime social activities to bring everyone together ,if possible fix the gym or arrange some type of communal exercise such as yoga

  • I sometimes think that e-mail is one of the most misused methods of communication, it is cold and isolated , I have to agree with the many face to face is the way to go whenever possible.

  • We have an excellent tool for communication and we are fortunate enough to have a person dedicated to this activity, the personnel all feel that they are well informed, there are numerous initiatives concerning training, social activities , activities within the local community etc.

  • Not so sure about the military !

  • It all seems so clear and easy when you see it written down like above, however the reality can sometimes be a little different, I think that my organisation tries to reflect the above.

  • Transparency is one of the important elements in trust along with consistency and the demonstration of moral/ethical values.

  • The second example used to be common in my industry which is construction site based, very negative and depressing for all around.

  • The blame culture has to be removed for failure to be allowed and accepted ,obviously no one wants to fail but the more we turn towards innovation the greater is the chance of failure.

  • the JCB example is excellent, team work, team spirit, change management in a very transparent way.

  • I´m one of the luckiest people in the world, I love my job, I love the people I work with and I achieve 100% job satisfaction.

  • Apart from the normal benefits such as salary ,healthcare, vacations etc. we also need to have our employees believing that we care about them on a personal basis ,that they are not just a number, they are part of the team.

  • Sexual harassment in the office environment, the complaint was ignored by the head of department, ignored or brushed under the carpet by human resources , ignored by senior management and eventually dealt with through the compliance committee.

    Very enjoyable

  • Excellent lady with excellent skills and compassion for the people and the environment

  • Seems to have it all under control.

  • going to go with the steam engine

  • Stephen Small made a comment

the wheel looked like a good first choice but I guess I have to go with information technology and all of it´s spin offs

  • Pleased to join the course.

  • Stephen Small made a comment

I enjoyed this course so much, a real eye opener.

  • Completing the ICAF has been interesting and I will forward it to other colleagues for their input.

  • Interesting tool

  • The emphasis can be on the customer but the first line of defence needs to be in house.IT also needs to play a part wherever it can ,however we always come back to the integrity of the individual (s)

  • our code of ethics and confidentiality agreements help in preventing knowledge leakage, the type of business we are in means that counterfeiting is probably not a risk.

  • Our Hunters will need to be people with imagination, without blinkers, probably people who believe in the Hobbit, gatherers are those people with patience, confidence , they will also need imagination when looking for the solutions.

  • Stephen Small made a comment

We are using and there are small groups of personnel working on ideas

  • Open and collaborative relationships are emerging but I believe there is still some resistance to this at a higher level, mainly from the older contingent of management.

  • outside-in could give ownership problems , i think couples would be the way forward, in my company this seems to be the way they want to move.

  • The majority of retail shopping business models are in crisis because they ignored the emergence of on line shopping.

  • We have key enablers, we also seem to promote young persons who are still growing and are not constrained by the previous way of working.

  • I believe we have the support from the leadership of the company , we have the people and it appears that we have funds available for innovation ideas. We run a competition yearly looking for new ideas but as yet we are still to see the positive results.

  • My industry is heavily dependent on oil and gas so in fact we are forced to innovate, the world is changing, people are waking up to the fact that a business such as ours is environmentally unacceptable unless we innovate.

  • I think my company is perhaps a little higher in the Core but looking to change, Transformative is I think the plan.

  • I´m not sure whether we are innovating or diversifying in my company, we are certainly changing, maybe I will understand better at the end of the course.

  • new to this ,lets see how to enjoy it

  • The problem of supporting an ageing poulation is becoming real.

  • Quality policies need to be disseminated to all within the organization, we then need to train the people on how to implement , comply with and then improve the quality policy.
