Learn how to successfully lead and manage change in a modern business environment

What is leadership and why does it matter? In this program you'll be introduced to the theoretical underpinnings of different types of leadership, and will examine their respective strengths and weaknesses.

You will also analyse the importance of organisational culture, look in detail at how culture affects the change management process and determine how company leaders can effectively drive successful change.

You’ll also consider how you can drive change for a sustainable future, focusing on strategic leadership and taking into account the contemporary issues that surround sustainable change.

I am an Employability Lecturer. My research is located broadly within labour market transitions, unemployment, change management, leadership and the role of technology and big data in organisations.

I am an Assistant Professor in Leadership, and Associate Director of the MA in Leadership and Management.

By the end of this course, you should be able to…

  • Critically evaluate leadership approaches and the impact of leadership on organisational culture
  • Evaluate seminal and contemporary theories of communication, culture and change with a specific focus on leadership and management issues
  • Assess alternative conceptual models of leadership and the implications for personal, team and organisational effectiveness
  • Analyse the cultural and contextual nature of leadership values based on personal values, principles and goals
