This program aims to help you build up your English language awareness and skills so that, upon successful completion, you can communicate successfully within an academic setting.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills to support the study of business courses at university. There will also be opportunities for you to expand your knowledge of business vocabulary.

James is module leader for English Business Communication and Report Writing Skills. He is also involved in other English language modules across the university.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion, you should be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to find and use suitable academic sources, and to reference them appropriately
  • Write and present a business report for a business-oriented audience
  • Identify and evaluate key points from business texts and be able to express these in a report
  • Acquire an appropriate range of English vocabulary and grammar suitable for academic and business purposes
