Effective communication can have a positive and far-reaching impact within business.

On this program, you’ll have the chance to develop your English language knowledge and skills to a level where you can communicate effectively and independently.

We’ll explore practical reading, writing, speaking and listening skills to support the study of business-related courses. You’ll also have the opportunity to engage in a series of activities designed to develop your communication skills in a business and academic context.

I am a Lecturer in Strategy and Leadership, Faculty of Business & Law, Coventry University. (AFHEA & SEDA). I am on my last year of PhD in Business, HRM at Birmingham City University.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this program, you should be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate and present on a business topic in an appropriate professional format and style using language appropriate to the purpose of the task
  • Identify and use suitable academic and business texts and reference them appropriately
  • Evaluate key points from business texts setting out a well-defined position which is supported by appropriate evidence through presentation
  • Show an ability to express complex ideas in presentations, demonstrating an extensive and accurate use of vocabulary and grammar
